If the white Heurikon DSP box in the computer room has been powered down, then
it is necessary to do the following. NOTE: THE ORDER OF THESE STEPS IS IMPORTANT.
IF THE DSP BOX IS POWERED DOWN, REBOOTING THE INSTRUMENT COMPUTER IS NECESSARY.
MAKE SURE NO ONE ELSE IS USING THE INSTRUMENT COMPUTER AT THE TIME. IF ONLY THE
POWER TO THE INSTRUMENT HAS BEEN INTERRUPTED, PERFORM THE PROCEDURE ABOVE.
- Verify that the Heurikon DSP box is powered up
- Turn OFF power to the instrument (switches on the small box with the LED
near the sun console)
- Turn the DSP power OFF for 30 sec, then ON
- Reboot the instrument computer
- Logout of the Sun Console
- Enter the login name as halt
- Enter the password docrash
- When the console returns ``ok'' enter boot
- When rebooting complete, login as ``cirim'' on the instrument
- Answer <cr> to the ``xterm'' prompt
- Go to the Instrument Control window and enter startwf. Follow the interactive procedure. Turn ON the instrument power when requested by startwf
- Press <return>
- Answer y to the DSP box power question
- Answer y to the instrument power question
- Turn on the instrument power
- Answer y to the instrument power being on
- Answer y to wanting windows
- Answer CIRIM (note it must be all caps) to the instrument selection
- Answer y to the question about wanting motor control
- The downloading procedure should complete with a ``%'' prompt
- Type fwinit to initialize the filter wheel
- Type filter blank to select the dark filter
- Enter setup cirim, answering 'y' to question about detector activation
- Enter the proper bias for the detector (nominal 0.90).
- Enter puse [parameter_file] to restore the parameter file active before the crash
- Verify ``pixel_dir'', ``header_dir'', and ``nextpic'' with plist or ped to make sure data will still be going to the desired location and will not overwrite existing data
- Reload any scripts with the source command
- Continue observing
