Submitter Email:
Observer Support:

Night Assistant:
Alberto Alvarez
Also Present:
Roger Leiton
Problems:

At 7:55, operator reported Fault TCSK link in Compact Rios P.
TCS down > 10 s.
Exposure started at 7:52 aborted.
Observations resumed around 8:20.

Comments:

Seeing went haywire (3-5 arcsec) between midnight and 12:40 am.  Settled back down to 2 arcsec later.

Observing Plan

  1. 2nd half-night observing plan
  2. Handoff from 1st half observers at 04:52
  3. use 1st half standard bias and dome flat sequence
  4. two mid-point standard stars
  5. run ObsTac queue
  6. three morning standard stars
  7. morning bias

Conditions

  1. Photometric all night
  2. Seeing rotten 1st half of night, mediocre during 2nd half – it’s supernovae time!

Accomplishments

  1. afternoon bias and flats; flats look good
  2. Handoff 12 minutes late (at 04:58) – compensates early start last night
  3. midpoint standards

    • SDSSJ0100
    • SDSSJ2140
  4. Supernovae

    • E1
    • X1
    • X3 g, r, z, i
    • S2
    • S1
    • C2
  5. Wide survey g,r,i,z,Y exposures
  6. morning standards

    • SDSSJ0320
    • SDSSJ0100
    • SDSSJ0000

Problems

None

Notes for data management

  1. Afternoon flats and biases 350328-350436 are from prop-id 2014B-0608

Other

  1. 1st half observers suffered primary mirror going off air
  2. Obstac picked supernovae right at the beginning – presumably it monitored seeing from 1st half observers.
  3. Seeing never consistently good enough to do much wide survey.
  4. Temperature dropped quickly in morning, causing low dome temp. to fall below mirror temp. Seeing went bonkers.
