Observing Plan

Half-night plan

  1. standard bias and dome flat sequence
  2. PTC sequence
  3. evening standard stars
  4. Nightly defocus
  5. run ObsTac queue
  6. middle of the night standard star
  7. handover to community observers

Conditions

  1. weather after dinner: 7pm (local): Clear overhead; few clouds over ocean; no haze. Green flash sighted.
  2. weather during night: 22:00 pm (local): Clear; very weak “ring of fire” on S horizon
  3. weather during night: 12am (local): Clear
  4. Seeing conditions: 0.8-1.2 arcsec, depending on band and airmass
  5. Wind conditions: 5 mph
  6. Humidity: 25

Accomplishments

  1. Afternoon: zeros, dome flats (ugriz)
  2. PTC failed halfway through – dang
  3. Evening: Standards:

    • E4-A
    • E1-A
    • SDSSJ0320
  4. Nightly defocus
  5. SN exposures

    • SN-C1
    • SN-X3i
  6. Survey Exposures: 100 total
  7. Middle of night:

    • Standard SDSSJ1227

Problems tagged as Synopsis_Problem

  1. Afternoon PTC failed halfway-through. Transfer to comfort display failed, then incomplete files were created.

Minor Problems and Relevant Information

  1. DIMM values are bouncing around more than DES FWHM.
  2. Occlusions alarms: 7

Notes for Data Management

  1. Ignore exposures 281475-281564 (PTC)
  2. Ignore exposures 281584-281585 (nightly defocus)
