Trouble during afternoon calibrations when we could not get light on detector using arcs or flats.
Spent time restarting software and Torrent. Decided to take some tests with COSMOS open by removing covers for filter wheels, gratings, and slits and shining a light inside while taking imaging exposures of 1,3,5,10s. All images were saturated, indicating that detector and controller were workking. Closed COSMOS and put M4 in lamp position and took arcs. Got arc lamps on detector.
Only few things changed between taking lamps in afternoon until we got light on detector. We cycled the power on the Torrent a few times; we restarted NOCS a few times, and on suggestion of Hernan, we found the shorting plug that can open the shutter. That was plugged in a couple of times and shutter seemed to work after that.
Still no known reason why we couldn't get light on detector during afternoon calibrations. Observing during the night has been flawless and we are keeping track of COSMOS performance.
