A. Rest Abstract

Light Echos from Historical SNe in the Magellanic Clouds

A. Rest (STScI)

Light echoes give us several unique opportunities in astronomy: we can observe SNe and eruptions that happened hundreds of years ago with modern instrumentation. This allows us to compare the cause (the explosion/eruption) and the effect (the remnant) of the same astronomical event. Furthermore, in some cases we can compare light echoes that view the transients from different directions, and thus investigate possible asymmetries.  I will review on how the unprecedented view  at SNe with light echoes in the LMC and MWG allows us to unravel some of their secrets.
