It's clear that the galactic structure contains the bulge, the Halo and three disks. But there are only theories about the formation of, for example, the disks. There is a mission called GAIA, this mission is going to be launched this year and it aim is to create a 3D map of the Milky Way, as well as making a catalogue of stars and their movements. This information will be very useful in the study of the galactic structure.  The aim of this work is to explain the galactic structure, GAIA mission and how this new information will improve our knowledge about our galaxy.
