1.) Complete the official application form (below). This form includes space to upload a 1-2 page letter (600 words or less) describing your scientific background and experience, and your current career aspirations. Be sure to include how the NOAO REU experience at CTIO would affect your plans for the future. This letter is your opportunity to let us get to know you, to explain why YOU are the ideal candidate for this REU program, and to give us any information you would like to share that was not already included in the application form.
2.) Transcripts from all of the colleges and universities you have attended. An un-official copy can be used for the purpose of selection and can be uploaded in the official application form below. Upon acceptance to the program, official transcripts will be required, and can be emailed to ctioreu@ctio.noao.edu, or mailed to the following address:

3.) Two or three letters of recommendation, to be submitted electronically by the people who will be recommending you in the REU recommendation letter submission form. It is the applicant's responsibility to share this link with the references that you listed. Please follow up with your references to make sure that they have submitted your letters before the October 1, 2015, 11:59 p.m. CLST deadline.
4.) After initial review of your application, the admissions committee may choose to conduct a brief video or phone interview (~10-15 minutes) with you. The purpose of this interview is generally to decide between two similar candidates or to insure good student/mentor matches. You will be contacted with more information if we wish to interview you.
