MASS-DIMM project
Goals
Development, production and commissioning of a
small series (9) of MASS-DIMM instruments that will work with small
robotic telescopes (e.g. Meade) to measure both seeing and
low-resolution turbulence profiles.
Site-testing work (NIO/CELT), site monitors (Tololo, Pachon, Las Campanas,
Mauna Kea), Antarctica?
Work scope
Kornilov's team:

Design of the opto-mechanical part (detector box)

Design and production of the electronics

Production of custom-made optics

Software: MASS software modified to work jointly with DIMM in a new
environment, being controlled by the Supervisor program,
also developed.

Documentation for the above components
Work at CTIO:

Fabricate the mechanical parts (12 wk?)

Purchase commercially available components (optics,
electronics, light detectors)

Assembly, integration and testing of all 9 instruments (Kornilov)

Port DIMM sofwtware to Linux (Edison)

Commissionning: on-sky testing together with DIMM and telescope.
