CTIOThe Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory is located about 500km north of Santiago, Chile, about 70km east of La Serena, at an altitude of 2200 meters. CTIO operates the Víctor M. Blanco 4-meter Telescope on Cerro Tololo, and the 4.1-m SOAR Telescope, which is on the adjacent Cerro Pachon, next to the 8.1-m Gemini SouthTelescope. The SMARTS 1.5-meter Telescope and SMARTS 0.9-meter Telescope are being operated by the SMARTS Consortium, users from NSF OIR Lab community are entitled to up to 15% of the time on the small telescopes.
