Okay looks like I'm the captain of a different ship now! NBTW here we go...back here after ~2 years and it's just like I remember it.
Lost the first two hours of the night due to humidity. After that, skies were clear and I observed 13 stars in the queue and got good data. But the skies weren't clear for long.
Clouds swarmed in after ~2 AM during which only two stars (RKS0041-0131 and HIP008102) were observed and thus both frames have low counts. It was overcast through dawn. I have no way to estimate what the seeing was for the night because the seeing tower is non-operational so I left those values as 0 in this report.
Now it seems the fourth season of ATV (A Man's TV -- A Man's Journey in Estados Unidos) will be premiering here on this night report for the time being, so let's go!
Episode 7 -- North Dakota and South Dakota
Ah yes the Dakotas. Weirdly enough, I did get a chance to visit the capital of North Dakota, Bismarck, where I saw a tornado brewing at a distance while I was on the drive. Talk about flat lands can do.
And I won't lie, Bismarck turned out to be pretty different than what I was expecting. I honestly couldn't figure out if I was still in the US or in Canada.
Also, they have a state capitol building that looks very different than most state capitols. Other than that, there was not much to do here in honestly.
South Dakota, though, they have some amazing points of interests...and I'm not talking about Mount Rushmore, which actually turned out to be much smaller than I thought it would be.
I'm talking about the carving next door to it, Crazy Horse, is a must see! It is gigantic and is so worth the experience and I think it is heavily underrated and turns out most people don't even know about it.
Also, another national park that is located here and is unknown to many, are the Badlands. Man what a beautiful wilderness area. You can literally see what millions of years of sedimentation looks like and man do the colors look pretty!
Also, the praire dogs here are so cute and are all over the place!
To the avid reader, I say this, if you wanna go for a long drive and see storms brewing far far away, go to North Dakota.
But if you want to explore, yet another beautiful geological showcasing of what nature is capable of, go to South Dakota.
I give North Dakota a 1/10 while South Dakota gets a 3/10.
All right, that's all for today y'all. Tune in tomorrow for another episode of ATV!
