ENR CTIO Blanco 4-m 2020-10-08

Date:
Thursday, October 8, 2020
Telescope:
CTIO Blanco 4-m
Submitter:
Kathy Vivas
Submitter Email:
kvivas@ctio.noao.edu
Observer Support:
Hernan Tirado
Night Assistant:
Alberto Alvarez
Also Present:
Alfredo Zenteno
Problems:

Issues with the pressure on line 3R. There were some interruptions in the observing to check the line, open the pump line, ...

Recommendation was to continue observing but avoiding pointing the telescope within ~20 deg from zenith. So we rearranged the observing plan for the night accordingly.

First image of the night was, understandably,  way out of focus, but it was corrected after second exposure.

Hernan was not able to get the "expert" status in the observer5's Observer Console GUI.

Observer3's speakers are not working. Alberto was not able to hear neither beeps after each exposure nor alarm noises (the chicken). This is important to fix.

Night was not photometric tonight so we skipped the starflats. We will try on the next few nights.

Comments:

Remote observing was done today from 2 different places (by Alfredo and Kathy). VPN, connection speed and zoom meeting worked well during the full night, with no interruptions at any time.

It is really great to be back on the sky. Thanks everybody!
