We discovered tonight that the parallactic angle given in the ARCoIRIS window is incorrect. We checked it against JSkyCalc and a custom idl script (which were in agreement). This is something that should be addressed ASAP, as taking observations with the slit oriented to the parallactic angle is very useful.
Tonight, the weather was fantastic, so we decided to push the instruement a bit and test methods for acquiring really faint targets. We successfully got a spectrum of a J=19 object! I sent an email to Sean Points detailing the steps involved to acquire such faint objects and put them on the slit.
In addition, I created a youtube channel with videos introducing and running through an ARCoIRIS data reduction. Hopefully these can serve as a tutorial for new observers.
