The SAMI Galaxy Survey is a large-scale survey of galaxies using the SAMI multi-object integral field spectrograph on the AAT. To date we have observed 1000 galaxies and we aim to observe 3400 in the next several years. Our first public release of data for 107 galaxies occurred in July this year. Although not yet complete, the SAMI Galaxy Survey is already the largest IFS survey ever carried out and represents a major advance. I will present the SAMI Galaxy Survey parameters and discuss how we deal with our large and complex data set. I will also present some of the exciting first science results from the survey, including my own work on the stellar kinematic of early-type galaxies.
