A very productive DECam engineering night (and day) led by Klaus Honscheid and Ann Elliott, working on SISPI changes in preparation of the IBIS start.
First, I'll quote Klaus summary that he sent to the IBIS collaboration:
1. Filter selection: We changed the Observer Console GUI to pull the list of installed filters from the constant database so that only the available filters plus block and none are displayed
2. Changed colors for new filters in the ICS GUI
3. Added and tested the modify code to the OCS. This allows to change elements of the exposure requests for entries still in the queue.
4. Modified the Observer Queue to update the queue when entries are modified (the current version assumed that entries are static and did not redraw the display
5. Fixed stop_exposure (changed the GCS code not to break the interlock). Tests on a handful of exposures were successful
6. Re-enabled sounds - changed chrome settings to Always play sounds (instead of automatic which is the default). To chance settings for a site click on the address bar. Also, increased volume in the OS system settings for sound
7. Changed the OCS configuration variable useFilterDependentGuiderConsta nts to True to have the guider exptime adjusted based on the selected filter.
In addition, we observed for ~3.5 hours and collected a dataset of guider images for Dustin Lang's DECBOT, but we had thin clouds plus moonlight and the dataset may not be optimum. We had a problem with the guider image transfering from lreadout2 into observer4, so Diego connected remotely to have a diagnostics and he will fix this tomorrow. Clouds persisted and we called it a night at 3:00am.
Finally, we could not have a connection working over Keeper for Klaus and Ann working for accessing SISPI. However, we saved this engineering day and night because Observer4 is able to see the external world (i.e. Internet) AND SISPI, in addition to Klauss and Ann still having their MAC addresses registered and able to connect to Tololo Wifi and see SISPI too. Please, do NOT modify this access before we have this survey (IBIS) running well. I think we would not have been able to make this remarkable progress without having this "plan B" beforehand.
Thank you to Diego Gomez, Mauricio Rojas and Bernardo Malet for all the great work accomplished at the Control Room during the day.
