Problems:

Dome closed for humidity at 8:05 pm.  Reopened at 8:45 pm.

Comments:

Real seeing was 4 arcsec in first quarter and 3 arcsec in second quarter.  Not allowed to report on form.

DES Observing Team

Observers: Stephen Kent, Richard Kron
Telops: Hernan Tirado, Claudio Aguilera, Rodrigo Hernandez
Remote Support:

Observing Plan

  1. 2nd half-night observing plan
  2. Handoff from 1st half observers at 00:45 local
  3. use 1st half standard bias and dome flat sequence
  4. two mid-point standard stars
  5. run ObsTac queue
  6. three morning standard stars
  7. morning bias

Conditions

  1. Cold, windy, bad seeing and getting worse.
  2. Clouds far to the south before 07:00 UT. Cloudy by 07:00 UT.
  3. Closed at 06:53 UT due to humidity.

Accomplishments

  1. afternoon bias and flats; flats look good
  2. Handoff at 04:40 UT
  3. midpoint standards

    • SDSSJ0100
    • SDSSJ2140
  4. Wide survey g exposures
  5. No morning standard stars because of clouds, humidity

Problems

Guider failed a few times because of very bad seeing

Notes for data management

  1. Afternoon flats and biases 351025-351133 are from prop-id 2014B-0608
  2. Exposure 351252 (last object exposure of the night) was aborted

Other

  1. DIMM is still down.
  2. primary was warmer than ambient all night. Example: at 01:40 local, pmas_temp = 8.1, lowdome_temp = 6.0, external = 3.0 C
