Tonight marks the beginning of the last run of the Dark Energy Camera Magellanic Clouds Emission-Line Survey (DeMCELS).  Tonight and this run are also very special because it marks 30 years of observing on Blanco for me.  My first run was 18-20 Jan 1995.  It was then that Chris Smith mentioned that he was going to obtain a 2kx2k detector for the Curtis Schmidt telescope and conduct start the Magellanic Clouds Emission-Line Survey (MCELS) using the huge 1.3deg field-of-view of the Schmidt.  It is to be hoped that the DeMCELS data are as widely used as a community resource as the original MCELS data have been.
