Seeing at start of observing is quite poor. DIMM ~0.8 Y~1.9.
Seeing very bad ~3. Star images are round but fuzzy. AOS corrections are very large. Alistair advises restarting sispi.
Rebooted system at 2:42 UT. Operator checked that mirror support system was normal.
Resumed OBSTAC observations at 2:52 UT.
Seeing not much improved ~2. Operator inspected primary mirror and discovered that cooling system (air removal) was not working. Fixed at 3:09 UT. May be due to power outages during the day. Operator got it working by switching to night mode manually. Operator says that system was working correctly at 6 pm (local time).
At 4:04 UT, operator and observer one re-inspected the cooling fan and verified that it was running and was in sucking mode. However they noticed that the air conditioning unit that cools the dome was running, whereas it should have been off. Operator went to switch it off at 4:10 UT.
Seeing values have improved. Latest values are below 2.
Seeing has been dropping steadily. At 4:31 UT values are now around 1.1-1.2 DIMM and PSF values are now much closer.
Back to normal operation.
