Problems:
Throughout the night, Monsoon crate 3 complained about high humidity. We were advised by the experts that the humidity reading of 40% was not something we needed to worry about.
At the beginning of the night, the guider failed to engage and reported its status as Error. As the exposures were relatively short, we finished the sequence without guiding. Resetting and reconfiguring the guider got it working again.
During the next set of observations, one of the guider images showed that the guider had picked what looked like the diffraction spike of a bright star to guide on. Two of the other chips picked good stars, and these seemed to dominate the guide pulses, so no harm done.
The guider indicator light remained off the entire night even while guiding was working.
Comments:
Good first night with DECam! Please deliver same photometric skies but with better seeing tomorrow. Thanks.
Hope the new dryer is installed soon, so sleeping astronomers don't have to live with the high-pitched squeal from the old one.
