OSIRIS Commands
The following are Prospero scripts which have been "aliased" in the
standard
observer login procedure so that they may be used directly from the
Prospero
command window. The scripts are stored in the ~observer/Scripts
directory
where they may be modified or copied to make new commands.
A command script which lives in /home/observer/Scripts, can be executed
by issues a Prospero "call". At the prompt, PR> call
'scriptbasename' where the script file has a name 'scriptbasename.pro.'
Alternately, use the full path name in the call.
Some variables are used globally. Do not use the following in custom
scripts for varibales other than those intended by the scripts below:
xcen, ycen, f3foc, f7foc, r0, rot.
Telescope Setup (not implemented yet)
focus semi-automatically focus the telescope
change_focus set the telescope focus (4m only)
Instrument Calibration and Setup (not implemented yet)
linproc take a linearity sequence
focuscam focus the internal OSIRIS cameras (alias is "focam")
Basic Observing Mode
f3 setup in basic imaging or acquire mode with the f/2.8 (lores) camera
f3spec setup in basic spectroscopic mode with the f/2.8 (lores) camera
xdimage setup in acquire mode when using XD spectroscopic mode
xdspec setup in basic XD spectroscopic mode
f7 setup in basic imaging or acquire mode with the f/7 (hires) camera
f7spec setup in basic spectroscopic mode with the f/7 (hires) camera
Guider Control (not implemented yet)
gue turn on guide corrections
gud turn off guide corrections
Acquisition and Observing Setup
askpars query for basic observing parameters
center center the object on the slit or in frame; issues a telescope offset command.
zcenter zero point the center parameters (xcen, ycen of slit or frame, PA).
wipe take junk frames to clear the HgCdTe detector "memory"
Observing
do_grid take a series of images in a NxM grid pattern
do_grid_sky same as do_grid, but also offsets to sky for an unguided image sequence. Will repeat nscan times
slitscan take a series of spectra along the slit (alias is "ss")
abbaper take a series of spectra on (object) and off (sky) the slit (alias is "abba"). Use slitscan for ABBA on slit.
